Welcome + 10 Fun Facts About Rhythm!
Welcome to our new Rhythm BLOG! As owners of Rhythm Dance Center, creating this blog has been a goal of ours (Becca and Dani) for several years, so we are very excited to finally launch it! As you (hopefully) know, there is always something fun going on at Rhythm! We want to use this platform to share more about that and also have our talented faculty share with you, too. So, plan to hear from us as well as different faculty members where we will share topics ranging from making the perfect ballet bun to how a following dual path (i.e. Ph.D and Dance) can help prepare you for teaching!
For our first blog post, we are sharing ten fun facts about Rhythm Dance Center. We opened Rhythm in June of 1993 and are approaching THREE decades of dancing here in East Cobb! We estimate that we have taught about 25,000 dancers during our 28 years. WHAT?!? That is crazy!! You may only see us around the studio every now and then or on stage welcoming you to our show…but, we are ALWAYS, ALWAYS working to make Rhythm better and brighter and happier! We feel so lucky to work in a profession that we absolutely love and the opportunities for creativity that it provides us. We also love nothing more to follow the journey of our dancers both during their time here at Rhythm and beyond. We love the responsibility of helping our dancers find a love of the art of dance and the confidence to pursue any career path with positivity and optimism! Dancing at Rhythm is so much more than dance steps! It’s the greatest community of so many talented and interesting humans. We love our Rhythm dancers and community dearly!
Here are ten fun facts about us and Rhythm Dance Center! We hope you learn something that you didn’t already know!
10: We are obsessed with themes, color, fun patterns and sparkle! If you have been around for any amount of time…you probably know this! Especially if you have been to one of our shows, in the studio or just follow us on Instagram! Creativity is our thing! Inspiration is everywhere and we want Rhythm to inspire all!
9: We currently have FIVE alums who work for us: Krista Mallon (Studio Manager), Beth Thomas (Mini Stars Director and former Connection Director), Emily Salerno (Connection Director), Julia Taylor (Teacher of all styles!), Jess Richardson (Ballet Teacher)…also most of our other staff have been employed here for OVER 10 years! We have so many LONG TERM teachers! Our faculty is the BEST!
8: We had an amazing dance review write-up in the New York Times for a performance we did in Bryant Park in NYC! We were blown away by that…it was the coolest experience! Click here to read it!
7: Before summers became super short, we took a group of advanced dancers to LA for about 10-12 summers to study dance. It was one of our favorite things ever and SO inspiring for both our dancers and teachers!
6: We were featured on the cover of Dance Teacher Magazine in 2016! They reached out to us and highlighted our business partnership and all aspects of our studio! This is definitely one of our proudest achievements!
5: One of our alums, Melanie Moore, WON Season 8 of So You Think you Can Dance! That was a FUN summer! Most recently, Mel came back to Rhythm and set choreography for our Edge dancers. She is one to watch! SO talented and her resume is too long to list!
4: We have at least five alums who have opened dance studios of their own! And too many to count who have become Dance Teachers! Our Rhythm alums are dancers, actors, casting agents, fashion buyers, film producers, talent agents, CNN producers, physical therapists for dancers, doctors, nurses, accountants, analysts, researchers, entrepreneurs…we love seeing how our former dancers can take lessons learned through dancing at Rhythm (confidence, creativity, persistence, assertiveness, teamwork, and so much more) and apply them to their careers!
3: We have another business called Confetti On The Dance Floor! We launched it in 2016 to help dance studio owners and teachers #makedancefun! We offer fun products, summer dance camps, advice on social media and marketing, and much more! We work with dance studios all over the world! It gives us another avenue to be creative, and Rhythm is the perfect inspiration for all our products and fun!
2: Through our fundraising efforts with our dancers, we have raised over $250,000 through the years for organizations including Dancers Responding to Aids, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Autism Speaks, Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, Sunshine on a Ranney Day and many more!
